Africa: 12 years after, boy who found crashed Nigerian Air Force Dornier 228 aircraft graduates from military academy


Twelve years after he discovered the crashed Nigeria Air Force Dornier 228 aircraft on Ngokugh Hills, Mbakunu Shangev-ya local government area, Chia Diko Detimbir, has been commission from the Nigerian Defence Academy to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Army.

The Nigerian Air Force plane, Dornier 228 was conveying senior military personnel to Obudu for a conference on September 2006, when it crashed at Ngokugh Hills, Mbakunu Shangev-ya Kwande local government area of Benue State killing 13 of the officers, while five of them were rescued courtesy of a telephone call from the crash site by 14 years old Chia Diko Detimbir who led a rescue operation that saved the survivors.

Chia Diko Detimbir has been commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army with a Bsc (Hons) Military Economics.
