Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed has officially taken over as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
According to a press release signed by the Ag General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, Faithful A. Hope-Ivbaze, this follows his appointment by the Federal Government of Nigeria after the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past MD/CE, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu on the 19th May, 2023.
At a brief handover ceremony held at the Authority’s headquarters in Abuja today, Tuesday, May 23, 2023, the new MD/CE commended Captain Yadudu for his immense innovative contributions and leadership to the aviation industry in Nigeria and beyond.
The MD/CE, until the new appointment was the Regional General Manager, North Central Airports, as well as the Chairman, Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee.
Mr. Kabir Yusuf Muhammed, a seasoned administrator and an astute aviator with stints in both the public and private sectors brings to board his wealth of experience in aviation safety and security. He is expected to consolidate on the lofty achievements of the immediate past Managing Director/CE, Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu.
Mr. Kabir Mohammed is an alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Program of the United States Government, and he holds a diploma in Airport Executive Leadership from ACI/Concordia University. He is an International Airport Professional (IAP).
Prior to his appointment as the MD/CE, FAAN, he had served the organization in various capacities including; Special Assistant to the Managing Director, Head of Servicom, MAKIA, Kano, Chief Liaison Officer, FAAN Liaison Office, Abuja, Chief of Staff to the MD/CE, General Manager, Special Duties, and Regional General Manager, North Central/Airport Manager, Abuja Airport.
While congratulating the newly appointed MD/CE and welcoming him as he takes the mantle of leadership, we thank Captain Rabiu Hamisu Yadudu for his innovativeness and hard work while his tenure lasted. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the re-organisation of agencies under the Ministry of Aviation in line with the new Acts of the National Assembly which he assented to, and were gazetted recently.
Highlights of the re-organisation include the creation of new Directorates in some of the Agencies prominent amongst which are the Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Corporate Services and Aviation Security Directorates.
The creation of the Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Directorate is to put the Agencies on their toes in terms of adequately addressing complaints by their respective stakeholders and oversee the Public Affairs / Protocol, Consumer Protection, SERVICOM and Anti-Corruption Departments while the Aviation Security Directorate in the NCAA will regulate the activities of the AVSEC personnel, especially with their recent arms-bearing status. The Corporate Services Directorates are to oversee the Procurement and Planning, Research and Departments.
Similarly, Engr Tayib Odunowo has been appointed the substantive Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to take over from Mr Matthew Lawrence Pwajok who reverts to his substantive position as Director of Operations of the Agency.
The Directors-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Engr Akin Olateru the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof Mansur Matazu and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu are to run the remaining course of their tenures in line with the Acts setting up their respective Agencies, while the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria, Captain Alkali Moddibo has been granted a one-year extension, also in line with the Act setting up the College.
In order to reposition the Agencies to perform their statutory duties as enshrined in the Acts, the Minister of Aviation has also approved the appointment of some new Directors. This is to address the requirements of the Acts for appropriate placements, Federal character requirements etc
