SKA Air (Entebbe/Kampala) secured its Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) during a star-studded ceremony at Entebbe International Airport late last week.
Although no official launch plans have yet been divulged, the cargo operator has a single B727-200(F) on its books which, presumably, it will use for regional Central and East African operations.
The event also marks the first new operator to complete certification with the Ugandans since ICAO condemned its oversight protocols following a USOAP (Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme) audit in 2014.
Though no other new carriers have been certified until now, other existing Ugandan operators have and have since resumed commercial services.
