Bella AHU: Top 100 Tourism Personalities in West Africa – Winner
Mrs. Bella AHU (MHCIMA) is the CEO of Trafix Catering Limited the company with 3 branches in the city of Accra / Tema a Company she, together with the husband established in 1983. Born 24th February, 1956 in Keta Volta Region, she had a Secondary education at Keta Secondary School, 1975; proceeded to Takoradi and Ho Polytechnic to embark on her professional career as Caterer from 1976 to 1980 respectively. She has participated in several skill development programs such as Entrepreneurial training from EMPRETEC Ghana and Management Training in Oxford University, UK. Bella also established a Non – Governmental Organization called Cook Art Ghana together with her team to champion the course of traditional caterers by creating awareness on Ghanaian local dishes and the industry as a whole, through standard hygienic Food preparation and nutritional value of Ghanaian dishes among indigenous caterers. In her high quest to improve and popularize the local dishes, Bella in 2008, with the support from SPEED GHANA conducted a Needs Assessment program in Accra and Kumasi on traditional caterers and subsequently developed a Standard Training Manuals for Traditional Caterers which was tested and accepted by Ghana Tourist Board. Bella as a Trainer, together with her team embarked on a nationwide awareness program in collaboration with Ghana Tourism Authority which trained over 2000 traditional caterers from Aflao to Elubo and Accra to Hamile. Till date over 12,000 traditional caterers and hospitality Students has benefited from the program nationwide. Bella holds several advisory executive positions such as Current President of Institute of Hospitality Ghana; Executive member of Ghana Association of Women Entrepreneurs (GAWE); Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) and Executive Member Tourism Investors Practitioners (TIPO). She is also currently a board member of Pioneer Kitchenware Company and Keta Senior Secondary School. She has served in various formidable committees these include 2009 – Member of World Tourism Day Planning Committee; 2005 – Member of the National School Feeding Program Drafters; 2006 – Member of National Tourism Policy Committee. Bella has chalked several awards through her professional career, also highlights of these are Millennium Change Award 2010; 2004, CIMG Marketing woman of the year; 2003, Republic of Ghana Presidential Award for popularizing and promoting Ghanaian indigenous foods and 2002, HCIMA Personal Achievement in the Worldwide Hospitality Industry (Runner-up).
