Ghana to train 100 000 youths for tourism jobsThe Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has announced that the Hotel Catering and Tourism Training Institute (HOTCATT) is to be upgraded into a fully National Tourism Training Academy.

The Sector Minister Mrs. Ofosu Adjare disclosed this last Friday at the 10th Tourism Awards held in Accra.

She added that, each national institute will have satellite campuses in all 10 regions in the country.

She said the institute is to provide training and skills development, in order to enhance quality service delivery for the satisfaction of visitors to Ghana as well as Ghanaian patrons of the tourism products.

Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare further stated that her Ministry acting through the National Commission on Culture (NCC) and in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is also embarking on a scheme to train 100,000 youth in employable skills in all 10 regions of Ghana.

The sector Minister believe this initiative should give the Culture and Creative Arts sector a boost and also ensure the production of high quality craft items for the tourist and export market.
