Our medium term prospects are very bright. We are working to overcome our energy shortfalls. Ghana will prevail again..

As a people, we have had to make sacrifices. I wish to assure you that the results of these sacrifices would begin to show very soon.

The response (which has since been removed) from the embassy’s handle which could only be seen as a diplomatic faux pas: “And what sacrifices are you making? Don’t tell me that pay cut.”

This triggered sharp responses from some government officials like Ras Mubarak, Chief Executive of the National Youth Authority, who stated that he would summon the US ambassador if he was the Foreign Minister.
