Austrian hotelier, Karl Hala, has been appointed as the new General Manager of the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa.
He has previously served for six years as the General Manager of the InterContinental Hotel in Nairobi alongside holding the position as Director of Africa Operations for IHG.
Hala has spent the last 35 years at InterContinental Hotel Group with 10 years handling Africa. He was previously the Regional General Manager IHG Africa and General manager InterContinental Hotel Lagos. Before Lagos, he was stationed in Nairobi where he held the position of GM intercontinental Nairobi and Regional Manager IHG Africa for 6 years. Hala is a graduate of Vienna Hotel School and the founder and vice president of the first American football club in Munich, Germany.
Ethiopian Skylight Hotel is located at the heart of Addis Ababa, just five minutes away from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
The newly constructed hotel has a total of 373 rooms fitted with relaxing and superb designs suitable for both corporate and leisure travellers.
The outstanding facilities of the hotel include, outdoor swimming pool, mini-golf courses, spa/massage, gymnasium and health centre.
According to a report by atqnews.com, the hotel is expected to generate about 400 jobs in the immediate future.
In addition to promoting Ethiopian tourism, the hotel will also welcome passengers during transits, stopovers or technical delays, according to the Ethiopian Airlines.
Africa’s most thriving airlines is said to be considering construction of a second hotel that should be operational in 2021.
