MAGOSHAS’ business has been hit hard this festive season because most of their customers have gone home to spend Christmas with their wives.

But they have come up with a solution – a 50% discount for their services!

The women who work on Heidelberg Road in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni normally charge between R20 and R50.

One magosha told Daily Sun: “We hope this discount will attract more customers. It’s a good deal. Men can get punani for just R10.”

She said she used to sleep with 16 men in a day, making R800. But since the festive season started, she has hardly been making R400 a day.

“Each day, a small number of men trickle in. On some days, we don’t get any customers at all. I wish this festive season had never started because some of us will go hungry,” she said.

According to the woman, the discount was a way for the women to at least have some income.

“I make R200 in a day and sometimes R250. It’s better than nothing,” she said.

Another magosha said she has also reduced her prices because there was a lot of competition for customers.

“I just want more customers. I’m giving them a Christmas special,” she said.

She told the People’s Paper that she was worried about how she was going to pay for her children’s school fees next year.

When the SunTeam visited the magoshas, some of them were phoning regular customers.

One said: “I’m checking to see if they can come over. It’s hard.

“You have to be seductive or you will stand here the whole day and earn nothing.”
