The tourism industry expected World Travel Market- Africa to be a beacon of light in troubled time. But unfortunately, Reed Exhibitions Africa announced that Africa Travel Week comprising of World Travel Market and International Luxury Travel Market Africa will now be postponed.
After the escalation of the Covid-19 crisis around the world the event which was due to start at the start of April will now be postponed.
Carol Weaving, the managing director of Reed Exhibitions Africa stated that they had to respond to the current coronavirus pandemic of Covid-19 and the ongoing conversations with their customers whose welfare is their top priority.
The uncertainty in the region and around the world as many of the clients are facing company travel bans took the decision to postponed the event to 2021.
In recent weeks the travel industry saw a rafts of events being cancelled or postponed like the ITB Berlin, ITB China, ITB India, AHIC , ATM, FIHA, IBTM Asia Pacific, AvivaDev Africa and WTTC Global Summit.
The portfolio director for the Africa Travel Week , Megan Oberholzer said that they would like to thank the industry for the support in unprecedented times.
