Zambia has placed its spotlight on tourism as a way of harnessing the huge natural potentials of the East African country.
A Chinese online platform xinhuanet.com reports that the country recently launched its Zambia Tourism Master Plan with the view of exploring revenue from the sector which many see as global money spinning with the growth of global tourism.
The plan according to the report is taking stock of all tourism assets in the country while putting them in groups.It is expected to have a lifespan running from 2018 to 2038.
According to the President of Zambia,Edgar Lungu,the country has not fully utilized the potentials of her tourism sector due to what he referred to as fragmented operations.
He argued that for tourism to be fully harnessed it needs to be properly planned both structurally and financially.
Speaking further ,Lungu in a speech by the Vice President Inonge Wina reiterated the importance of a holistic framework at national level to speed up development.
President Lungu advised the players across ministries to work in harmony and collective sense of purpose in achieving the vision.
Zambia is endowed with many tourism potentials including the Victoria Waterfalls ,the Zambezi River, various national parks ,wide species of wildlife and flora and rich in culture.
Reports from tourism databases shows that the county attracts visitors mostly between June and November when the weather is dry and suitable for wildlife watching.
