I am a U.S. based airline expert with primary interest in safety and airworthiness of commercial aircraft. When I read a piece like this one - several responses emerge.
1. The lengthy piece will not be read - much less - 'digested' - by more than a handful of people around the globe.
2. Commercial aviation in Nigeria (and most countries in west Africa) has never developed an infrastructure REQUIRED to support airline operations. The entire industry is a 'rag-tag', convoluted, dis-jointed and ineffective 'cabal' of inadequately capitalized, amateurishly managed, unacceptably maintained fleets of airplanes and NO ONE in the industry who knows how to solve ANY of the problems.
3. The total amount of money spent, and wasted, on the airline industry in Nigeria - since 1980 - could fund several airlines - which would equal (or surpass) the safety, performance and profitability of any airline on earth. I hear people in Nigeria bemoan the 'lack of money' - NONSENSE!!!!! There is more than enough money (capital) in Nigeria to create and operate airlines. Building an airline is not difficult - SUSTAINING - an airline is extremely difficult.
4. There is overwhelming evidence that there is no solution for the poor performance and unacceptable status of the airline industry in Nigeria.
5. I know what to do, how to do it, who to call on to assist and a detailed plan to transform the anemic and unsafe airline industry in Nigeria - to a highly profitable, safe and respected industry in less than five years. Nigeria needs help - from outside the country.
6. When the wine industry in France, in the early 20th century, was decimated by disease - they asked a man from Texas to come save it. They contacted him - he came - and the rest is history.
7. +1 254 631 9785 - in Texas.

I read the piece thoroughly, digested what the author actually wrote - what the author actually WANTED to write - and the effect of the total number of words...
Nigeria...and other regions of west Africa - are living 'knee deep in diamonds' - meaning: the overwhelming abundance of resources and opportunity are everywhere!
Nigeria does deserve much of the global criticism heaped upon the inept, uneducated, inexperienced, ambivalent, oblivious and UNQUALIFIED people who have been selected to run the endless list of failed airlines.
My comment, and solution, is rooted in an analogy of American college football teams. Numerous college football programs...languished in maddening mediocrity...for decades. They all had 'talent', they had 'coaches', they had 'facilities', 'money', 'fans', 'supporting alumni',,,and television contracts - yet they performed poorly - year after year - and became 'doormats' for other football teams.
When the schools FINALLY figured out that - ONE MAN - a superbly qualified, visionary and motivated - COACH - would transform 'losers' into 'winners' - that's when they started winning.
Nigeria has had a nauseating 'revolving door' of men - chosen to run the airline(s) - who are not qualified to serve fried chicken - it the cafes and bars - in the airports - much less manage airplanes, money, people and international aviation regulations.
Find that guy! It is painfully obvious that man does not live in Nigeria. It doesn't matter. Find that guy, let him build a truly sustainable, profitable and SAFE airline. Show the rest of the industry in Nigeria that it CAN be done. Then turn the airline over to a man (or woman) who learned HOW to do it.
