Former Seychelles Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports, and Marine, Alain St. Ange, was interviewed by renowned CNN anchor Richard Quest during ITB Berlin 2025, the world’s leading travel trade show. St. Ange, an esteemed tourism leader and consultant, shared his insights on the global travel industry’s recovery and its future challenges.

During the interview on Quest Means Business, St. Ange highlighted the robust resurgence of tourism to pre-pandemic levels, citing strong demand despite rising travel costs. He emphasized the importance of recognizing tourism as a key industry rather than just an activity, urging a strategic approach to sustainable growth.

Addressing the upcoming UNWTO Secretary-General election, St. Ange voiced his support for candidate Gloria Guevara, former Minister of Tourism of Mexico, and her running partner Mohamed Faisal, stating that their leadership would bring much-needed industry expertise to the organization.

St. Ange also discussed his presidential aspirations for Seychelles, stressing the need for political balance and governance oversight. He underscored the importance of ensuring that parliamentary powers act as an effective counterbalance to the presidency in the country’s political landscape.

While at ITB Berlin, Alain St. Ange was once again honored with the prestigious PATWA Gold Award for Lifetime Achievement in Tourism, recognizing his enduring contributions to the global travel industry.
