Africa: Starting July 2025, Ethiopian Airlines to launch new Porto route

The largest airline in Africa and one of the fastest-growing airline brands in the world, Ethiopian Airlines will commence a new flight service to Porto, Portugal, starting July 2, 2025, with a stop in Madrid.

According to a statement by the airline, the introduction of this flight aims at offering travel options and enhance seamless connectivity for passengers in the area, furthering Ethiopian Airlines’ regional expansion across Europe. The new flight will operate four times a week with the B787 Dreamliner according to the following schedule:

  • Flight ET740 will depart from Addis Ababa on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 23:10, arriving in Madrid at 05:55 the next day. It will then depart from Madrid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 06:55, arriving in Porto at 07:15.
  • Flight ET741 will depart from Porto on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 19:55 arriving in Madrid at 21:10. It will then depart from Madrid at 23:10,
    arriving in Addis Ababa at 07:25 the next day.

Ethiopian Airlines has been providing flight services to Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, through codeshare flights via London, Milan, and other nearby cities. Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates approximately 140 weekly passenger flights across Europe to 22 destinations. Additionally, the airline serves 8 cargo destinations in Europe. With the addition of this new passenger flight service, Ethiopian Airlines reinforces its position in the region while fostering stronger ties between the two regions and beyond.
