Aviation: African Carrier, Ethiopian Airlines Honored for Excellence in In-Flight Service and Innovation in Hamburg, Germany

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most award-winning airline, has won the ‘Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier – Africa’ award at the 2025 PAX Readership Awards and the ‘Cabin Concept of the Year 2025’ award at the Onboard Hospitality Awards, with both events taking place in Hamburg, Germany.

According to a press release by the airline, Ethiopian received the ‘Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier – Africa’ award for the third time, in recognition of its exceptional onboard catering services.

It was also named the Bronze Winner of the ‘Cabin Concept of the Year 2025’ award for its A350-1000 cabin innovation, which blends elegant interior design, enhanced passenger comfort, cutting-edge technology, outstanding service delivery, and authentic onboard catering.

Commenting on the award, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said, “We are honored to be recognized by our industry peers and passengers for the quality of our inflight meal services, and the innovative approach to our new cabin design. These awards are testaments to our commitment to deliver a world-class travel experience inspired by the hospitality culture of Ethiopia and the innovative technologies of the future.”

These recognitions add to Ethiopian Airlines’ growing list of accolades and further solidifies its reputation as a global leader in aviation service excellence.

Ethiopian Airlines’ state-of-the-art catering facility in Addis Ababa, capable of producing up to 100,000 meals daily offers catering services and on-board duty-free items for both scheduled and non-scheduled Ethiopian and customer airlines, VVIP and charter flights. Currently, the facility consists of international kitchens staffed by chefs from around the world.

The facility also includes a separate Halal Kitchen with Halal Certification. Ethiopian Airlines’ new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft cabin concept combines a spacious layout with larger windows, mood lighting, and quiet cabins that enhance comfort across all classes, AVANT Up IFE system with 4K displays, Bluetooth connectivity, real-time views via landscape cameras, and 70W fast-charging ports for every seat, Eco-conscious amenity kits featuring sustainable bamboo brushes, eye masks, nourishing lip balm, and sleep aids
