An Accra High Court is set to watch the controversial video which is reported to have captured hiplife artiste Eugene Ashe, aka Wisa Greid, showing his genital at a public concert.

State prosecutors say they are set to tender the controversial video to the court.

According to Detective Chief Inspector Edward Adjei Odame who opened the prosecution’s case on Monday, the supposed offensive video was shown to the ‘Ekiki Mi’ hit singer before he was charged.

Led in evidence by Chief Inspector J. B Asante in an Accra Gender-Based Violence Circuit Court, the senior police officer further stated that Wisa admitted the offence.

However, the prosecution was unable to present the supposed video as it was ‘locked’ up in the exhibits store of the police.

This compelled the trial judge, Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, to adjourn proceedings until February 5, 2016.

The judge was emphatic that the prosecution must bring the equipment required to play the video in court.

Lawyer missing
Interestingly, Wisa who was spotted in a sea blue long sleeve shirt over a black pair of jeans trousers was without a lawyer.

Jerry Avenogbor, lawyer for the hiplife artiste, who had earlier mounted a spirited defence that his client showed a dildo but not his real genital, was nowhere to be found.

Dildo drama
He is quoted as having told journalists at the initial stages of the prosecution that “Do you know what a dildo is? So if you know what a dildo is and you know what you can get from different sex shops all over the world then you can understand where we are coming from basically.”

.
He had added, “What you saw in there is a perception. He is dissatisfied with the perception that you have. What you saw, to you it’s a dick or it looks like a dick. Can you prove that it was a dick?”

Lawyer Avenogbor had argued, “He [Wisa] has pleaded not guilty and we will proceed to determine the matter in court. If you run into the definition of art, it runs from paintings to music to dance and culture and to everything artistic and it is broad.”

Charges
Wisa Greid is standing trial for allegedly showing his manhood during a live stage performance on December 24 last year during the “December 2 Remember” event at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Social media platforms are awash with videos of the artiste stripping and rubbing his manhood behind his female dancer on stage, compelling his management to apologise for what was described as the artiste’s “rash and irresponsible behaviour.”

He is currently on an GH¢ 8,000 bail with one surety.

Evidence
Earlier, D/Chief Inspector Odame narrated to the court how the attention of the Accra Regional Police Command was drawn to a nude video posted on the internet from an unknown source. He said in that video Wisa removed his genital while performing live on a stage at the afore-mentioned venue when he was dancing with a female dancer.

The police officer said the police contacted Wisa’s manager and he was brought to the police headquarters for investigation, adding that during investigation, it was revealed that on December 24 Airtel Telecommunications Company and Citi FM organised the “December 2 Remember” Christmas party and that Wisa was invited as a guest artiste. It was at this event that the incident happened, he added.
