Africa: Accor Signs new Ibis Styles in Ethiopia

World leading hospitality group, Accor, is expanding its presence in Ethiopia after signing a management agreement to open a new property under its design-led economy brand, Ibis Styles.

The Group has partnered with private conglomerate, Yuluch Elyano Trading plc, in a move that ramps up its ambitious development plans in Sub-Saharan Africa. The new 150-room hotel will open in 2023.

According to rustourismnews.com, the new Ibis Styles Addis Ababa is conveniently close to the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, corporate institutions and embassies. The property targets families as well as regional and international business travellers. The 150-room hotel will also feature a restaurant, a gym, meeting spaces and parking.

The Ibis Styles Addis Ababa joins Accor’s growing portfolio of properties in Addis Ababa under brands such as MGallery, Mercure, Pullman and Mövenpick. The Ibis Styles brand is already present in other African markets, including Nairobi (Kenya) and Accra (Ghana), with a total of seven properties in operation in the Middle East and Africa and another seven under development.

According to an article published by atqnews.com, Accor and Marriott International represent the largest hotel supply and pipeline counts in Africa. Accor’s portfolio covers 24,512 rooms, almost 4,800 hotels, resorts, and residences across 100 countries as of July 31 2019.
