Nsude Pyramids

In 1935, a photograph captured the Nsude Pyramid, the only known pyramid in Nigeria. Since then, this mysterious structure had disappeared from public view.

The Nsude Pyramid

Today, my quest to rediscover the pyramid led me on a hill-climbing adventure, culminating in a remarkable find: ten pyramids hidden under dense foliage. This search brought us to the highest point in the South East, the Udi Hills.

The Udi Highlands, ranging between 500 and 580 meters, are the tallest in the South East. Climbing to the peak of this hill, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of Enugu and the 9th Mile. Our adventure continued with a hike through the Ngwo Pine Forest, leading us all the way to a majestic waterfall.

The journey was long and exhausting, but the twisting and turning paths of Miliken Hills made for an exhilarating experience.
I am honored to be a guest of the Enugu State Government, accompanied by the Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, her team, and former Mrs. Tourism United Nations, Ebele Enemchukwu. We have been exploring the leading tourism attractions in Enugu State, with a significant focus on the Nsude Pyramids.

The government has exciting plans to restore these historical pyramids to their original state soon.

This journey was not just about rediscovering the Nsude Pyramids but also about experiencing the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Enugu. From the heights of the Udi Hills to the serene trails of the Ngwo Pine Forest, this adventure was a testament to the rich and diverse attractions that Enugu State has to offer.

Discovering the Majestic Ezimo Waterfalls: Enugu’s Hidden Gem
The Ezimo Waterfalls, also known as the Iyi Nzu Waterfall, are an awe-inspiring natural wonder in Enugu State. With a breathtaking drop of between 220 and 280 feet, the falls are a sight to behold. Our journey to this magnificent location began with a trek down 20 stairs made from disused tires by the locals, followed by 37 stairs to the second level, and 47 stairs to the third.

The Ezimo community holds their annual festival near the falls, dedicating a day to celebrating this natural marvel. The Enugu State Government has ambitious plans for tourism, and Ezimo is set to play a significant role in these developments.

During our visit, we had the honor of meeting the Igwe and were warmly escorted by the locals.

Enugu State is rich with attractions, and the Ezimo Waterfalls are just one of its many treasures. As always, the Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke, led our expedition with her tireless enthusiasm and exemplary leadership. There is so much to see and experience in Enugu State, and this visit to the Ezimo Waterfalls is a testament to its incredible potential for tourism.

A Journey to Orsu Waterfall: Discovering Enugu’s Hidden Treasures
On my way to the Orsu Waterfall in Awgunta, I was accompanied by the Enugu State Commissioner of Tourism, Dame Ugochi Madueke. Our route took us along a road that left me utterly amazed. This solitary road winds atop the most picturesque hill imaginable, part of the Nsukka-Udi Highlands that extend through Awgu to Uturu and Okigwe.

The twists and turns of the road are reminiscent of the Milken Hills in Ngwo and are a smaller version of the winding roads found at the Obudu Ranch.

During this journey, we visited the Federal School of Fisheries and the lake at Ugbo. The local Civic Center, an initiative by Honorable Okechukwu, also caught our attention. If every Nigerian legislator could leave behind such impactful legacies, the country would undoubtedly be better off. The only other legislator who has impressed me similarly with his constituency projects is Femi Gbajabiamila.

As I stepped out of the vehicle, I found myself praying for the politicians, which is quite unlike me. The level of development and care put into these projects was truly impressive. Inspired by the beauty and potential of the area, I have requested land at the School of Fisheries to build a resort. This journey through Enugu’s hidden treasures was an eye-opening experience, showcasing the incredible potential for tourism and development in the region.
