Efforts to reinvent tourism in Akwa Ibom state by Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration has continued to win national admiration, with the state emerging the Nigerian Top Tourist State 2020.
At an event organised in the nation’s capital tagged Abuja Jabamah: the Wonders of Nigeria Expo last weekend, Akwa Ibom State emerged winners from among selected states that have invested in tourism in the preceding year.
Governor Emmanuel’s investment in business and leisure development in the state has yielded impacts with the establishment of nationally celebrated Ibom Airline, the completion of the 22 Storey Dakkada Towers, the completion of the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, the restructuring of the Ibom Icon Hotels, and the revamp in secondary and quaternary health care delivery systems in the state.
It could also be noted that the institution of events such as the Christmas village and other sociocultural activities, as well as restoration of peace and security in the hitherto volatile state which have led to the establishment of several industries, have all boosted the tourism drive of Akwa Ibom state. Today, most seminars and conferences across the nation are held in Uyo, the beautiful and serene Capital City of the State.
He restated the resolve of the Governor Emmanuel led administration to partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure robust developments in the Tourism sector, to attract more investments in the sector.
He dedicated the Award to the State Governor for his painstaking efforts towards the development of Tourism in the State.
