Africa: Anti-poaching team apprehend notorious hunter at old Oyo National Park

A notorious hunter, Badmus Ayanyemi had been apprehended by an Anti-poaching Patrol Team of Old Oyo National Park on the 6th of October, 2020 for hunting.

According to Conservator of the Old Oyo National Park, Joseph Assam Ntui, the suspect, Ayanyemi who had been previously arrested for similar offense and sentenced to prison was apprehended yesterday evening around 5pm at Ipade A’aya area in Marguba Range of the Park.

Ntui while reacting to the arrest expressed displeasure over non adherence of some stakeholders to the campaign against hunting and consumption of bush meat. The CP added that the suspect would be changed to court for prosecution.

According to the Conservator, weapons seized from the suspect include One single-barrel locally made gun, seven live cartridges, one headlamp and a cutlass. He had not killed any animal before his arrest.
