With AI projected to add $1.2 trillion to Africa’s GDP by 2030 and the continent expected to host 42% of the world’s youth population, UN Tourism is urging African nations to seize the moment.

At the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) meeting in Abuja, Executive Director Natalia Bayona emphasized the critical role of digital innovation, skills development, and youth empowerment in transforming Africa into a global tourism powerhouse.

In her address, Bayona outlined how digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and youth-led innovation are reshaping the future of tourism globally and across the continent. With Africa poised to become home to 42% of the world’s youth population by 2030, the continent holds enormous potential to lead in tourism entrepreneurship and tech-driven growth.
