Managing Director, Cross Rivers State Tourism Bureau (CSB), Utsu John Atsu has commended the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade for taking proactive steps in ensuring that one of the state’s tourism assets, Marina Resort was protected from the wanton destruction of public properties unleashed by hoodlums that ensued after the endsars protest in the country.

Atsu said but for the timely intervention of the governor, the Marina Resort would have been ransacked and looted by the rampaging mob which inflicted unimaginable destruction on organisation, Tinapa Resort.

According to him, the governor is concerned about the wellbeing and welfare of the citizenry, especially the youths which is why he has recently invested in the upgrade of facilities at the marina resort.

He said: “On behalf of CRS Tourism Bureau, I would like to thank and appreciate H.E. Sir Ben Ayade for the effective and proactive steps taken during the unfortunate and shameful destruction of public and private property and critical assets in Calabar and environs last week.

“A clear beneficiary of H.E’s dedication to service and sacrifices is the Marina Resort which came out unscathed despite the numerous attempts to access and destroy the resort.

“Many of you will not know all the steps and actions H.E. undertook behind the scenes to ensure the protection of this great asset of ours.

“On the back of that and even in the circumstances, H.E. Sir Ben Ayade is still sleepless and concerned about the wellbeing and welfare of the citizenry and especially the youths which is why he has recently invested in the upgrade of facilities at the marina resort.

“The Carousel has been refitted and upgraded to world class standards, a brand new go-kart circuit including state of the art go-karts have been deployed and setup, Archery and Paintballing equipment have been ordered and will be setup as soon as delivery is complete.

“In addition, H.E. is well aware of the yearning for a functional cinema for our people and has since approved the purchase and installation of cutting-edge cinema entertainment equipment.

“H.E. has also approved the deployment of an Electric Vehicle transportation system for Calabar which will be the first of its kind in Nigeria.

“May I also appreciate H.E’s approval for the design and launching of the state’s tourism website. It is interesting to know that despite our long tourism history, previous administrations failed to deliver a fully owned and managed destination website. However, H.E. has ensured that such lapses will remain a thing of the past.”
