Publisher of Travellers Weekend Magazine and organizer of the annual CHINET AviaCargo Conference, Mr. Ikechi Uko has highlighted what the CHINET Conference has achieved in its five years of emergence.
In his welcome speech at the 21st AKWAABA Africa Travel Market and 5th CHINET AviaCargo Conference held in Lagos, Uko said the word “CHINET” which has an Ethiopian origin and means “cargo” was adopted as name for the event at inception, out of search for an African name, saying it has influenced changes in industry’s handling and perception of aviacargo sector in Nigeria.

He attributed the event outcome to the establishment of a Cargo Directorate in the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for the first time.
Besides, an AviaCargo Committee which he led was set up to tour the various airports in Nigeria and produce recommendations on how to improve aviacargo business and the committee has submitted its report.
In addition, courtesy of CHINET AviaCargo Conference, Nigeria Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and insurance stakeholders are now involved and are collaborating with the aviation industry on aviation insurance.
