East African country, Kenya says it will be focusing on domestic and regional tourism for the next two years to accelerate the industry’s recovery from the slump caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to bnnbloomberg.ca, Tourism Secretary Najib Balala, in an opinion piece published Monday by the Nairobi-based Standard newspaper said: “We need not be dependent on international tourism and must start investing heavily in the domestic and regional market,”

Tourism, the East African nation’s third-biggest foreign-exchange earner after remittances and agricultural exports, received 1.44 million visitors between July last year and February 2020, compared with 1.42 million a year earlier, Balala said.
African nations “must unite and form a federation to promote tourism within the continent” and ease visa restrictions, he said.
