On Sunday, September 17, 2023, the Eldorado Hotel in Aba, Abia State, came alive as dancers from across the entire state converged to compete in the highly anticipated Isaac Chinagorom National Dancing Competition.
According to a facebook post by Fred Iwenjora, The zonal dance-offs plotted to go round major Nigerian states is to select the best Nigerian dancer to represent Nigeria in the international dance competition in 2024
In the keenly contested preliminaries to the championship in Aba, the panel of judges headed by veteran musician and showbiz promoter Frank Fyne Ebere Ikoro declared that Mr Humble, took the 1st position while Emmanuel Prince came 2nd.
The third position went to Heritage group, a dance troupe that electrified the stage with costumes, style and panache.
Dance champion Chinagorom whose Icerom Group is organizing the championship explained the choice of Aba as starting point.
For him it was at the Enyimba city of Aba that he started winning dance competitions including the one organised for John Player Gold Leaf brand which also saw him winning in Lagos and later representing Nigeria in London world dance championship.
Chinagorom won the third place behind Sweden and UK in that competition.
The National Dance Competition train moves to owerri capital city of Imo state on the 8 October 2023 while Port Harcourt River state dancers will take the stage on 15th October, 2023.
The best dancers from the zones across Nigeria will slug it out in a grand finale.
The big prize for the ultimate winners include prize money and a car as well as other consolation give aways.
Also speaking Elvis, M.D Cheznous bar who was one of the judges commended Chinagorom for giving back to the art that made him popular. He also encouraged young Nigerians to go all out a d become champions.
