In a strategic partnership, Ethiopian Airlines and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced the launch of direct flights connecting London Gatwick Airport to Kumasi Prempeh I International Airport (PIA).
This collaboration aims to boost international travel access to Ghana’s Ashanti Region, marking a pivotal development in regional air connectivity.
According to a statement by GACL, the inaugural flight, scheduled for December 3, 2024, marks a significant milestone in connecting Ghana’s second-largest city directly to Europe.
The new service will operate with departures from London Gatwick at 2:10am, arriving in Kumasi at 9:05am, while the return flight departs Kumasi at 11am to arrive in London at 6pm.
This carefully planned schedule allows for convenient connections and optimal travel times for passengers traveling between the United Kingdom and the Ashanti Region.
To accommodate the increased travel demand during the festive season, an additional flight has been scheduled for December 15, 2024, with more flight schedules to be announced in the coming weeks.
This new route not only enhances Ghana’s aviation connectivity but also promises to boost tourism and business opportunities between the two regions.
