Akanu Ibiam International Airport

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, is set re-open Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu State on the 28th of April 2025, following runway rehabilitation works.

This was after the meeting and inspection by stakeholders and Regional Manager of Akanu Ibiam International Airport yesterday. It could be recalled that the airport was closed last week following the discovery of a sudden and severe rupture in the asphalt surface at a critical section of the runway.

According to a statement released by FAAN, the emergency repairs was to take place from April 22 to May 6, 2025, during which time the runway will be completely unavailable for flight operations. All flights originally scheduled to land at or depart from Akanu Ibiam International Airport were rerouted to nearby airports for the duration of the repair period.
