The Federal Government has announced plans to set up a Presidential Task Force on Dirty December aimed at ensuring seamless travel and coordination for visitors coming into Nigeria during the festive season.
The Honourable Minister of Culture, Hannatu Musa Musawa revealed this development during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Abuja, stating that the initiative was proposed to the President as part of efforts to boost Nigeria’s position as a leading cultural and tourism destination in Africa.
“We have asked the President to establish a Presidential Task Force on Dirty December that will allow all travellers to Nigeria come without any hitches,” the minister said.
The Minister who posted the statement on her official X account, explained that the task force would coordinate with relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to improve travel logistics, streamline visa and airport processes, and ensure security and hospitality for the influx of visitors expected in December.
The minister emphasized that Dirty December—a popular term used to describe Nigeria’s vibrant lineup of December festivals, concerts, and cultural events—has grown into a major tourism and economic driver.
“We need to ensure that we provide the international community with a destination for Dirty December and, of course, provide the support that Lagos State needs from the federal government so that we can really maximize the potential of Dirty December and other festivals around the country,” she added.
