Africa: Ghana appoints new Minister of Tourism, 3rd one under Nanna Addo

Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Awal Mohammed as the new Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture for the country.

The appointment by the president brings to three the number of ministers appointed under his administration since it came to power on 7 January 2017.

At the inception of his administration, Catherine Afeku was appointed the minister for the tourism sector. Catherine Afeku had a short stint at the ministry before she was moved to the presidency as minister of State at the office of the president.

She was later after replaced by Barbara Oteng Gyasi in 2019.
Ibrahim Mohammed Awal is a Ghanaian journalist, marketer, entrepreneur and politician. He also served as CEO of Graphic Communications Group and Chase Petroleum.

He is a member of the New Patriotic Party and has served as Minister of Business Development of Ghana since 2017.
