Africa: GTA Honors 36 Champions at 2024 National Tourism Awards for Excellence in Ghana’s Hospitality Sector

In a night filled with celebration and prestige, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) held its annual National Tourism Awards at the historic Osu Castle Gardens on Friday, October 25, 2024.

The event brought together notable figures and institutions within Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industries, celebrating their remarkable contributions and achievements.

This year, 36 individuals and organizations were recognized as champions for their exemplary roles in enhancing Ghana’s tourism landscape.

According to modernghana.com, the prestigious ceremony, set against the serene ambiance of Osu Castle Gardens, attracted notable figures from across the tourism industry. Dignitaries in attendance included the Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and his Deputy, Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey.

The event was graced by GTA Board Chairman and members, along with GTA CEO Mr. Akwasi Agyeman and Deputy CEOs Mr. Ekow Sampson (Operations) and Mr. Ben Anane Nsiah (General Services). Leaders from diplomatic circles, industry professionals, and agency heads under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture were also present.

Hon. Florence Oboshie Sai Cofie served as Chairperson for the occasion, while Togbe Dr. Crystal-Dzirackor, Group Chair of Crystal TV Group, honored the gathering as the Guest of Honour.

A total of 36 awards were distributed to individuals and organizations recognized for their excellence in promoting Ghana’s tourism industry. The awards included 26 competitive categories, 8 honorary recognitions, and 2 special awards.

The night underscored GTA’s commitment to fostering growth in tourism and celebrated the ongoing efforts of industry stakeholders who are shaping Ghana into a preferred travel destination.
