International flight operations which have been shut for over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic may have resumed at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

The government had shutdown international flight operations in major airports in the country, restricting flights only into the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos in a bid to stop the spread of the pandemic.

The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria on its twitter handle had announced the resumption of flight operations to the airport, with Africa’s largest carrier, Ethiopian Airlines operating a special flight, arriving at the airport with air travellers, making it the first airline to operate into the airport since it was shutdown.

“The twitter on the authority’s handle reads: Resumption of International flight at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, with the arrival of @flyethiopian today 6th April 2020.”
