Jigawa state

Jigawa State is responsible for over 75% of the exported farm products according to a report by the Nigeria Shippers Council (NSC).

According to Daily Post, Director of the Nigeria Shippers Council North-West Zone, Abubakar Sadiq Bashir, stated this during a one-day seminar with the theme: “Export of agricultural commodities from the hinterland, producers, documentation, and challenges”, organized by the zonal directorate, Kano, held in Dutse.

He stated that Jigawa produces much of the farm products that can be exported to other countries. Bashir said some of the major products included sesame seeds and hibiscus, among other exported goods approved by the Federal Government. He said the major problem is processing the products to the best standard and exporting them.

He said NSC has commenced an enlightenment campaign to create more awareness on processing and exporting farm products to other countries.

Managing Director of Dala Inland Dry Port, Hon. Ahmad Rabiu, said a warehouse will be established in various local governments in the state to ease the export process.
He said a warehouse would be established in Dutse, Maigatari, and Gujungu, among other local governments, to be used for export. Earlier in his remarks, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Aminu Kanta Babura, commended and appreciated the efforts of the council to bring opportunities to the state.
