Africa: Lagos State Ministry of Tourism Assesses Quality of Ongoing Reconstruction of First Post Office in Nigeria

The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, through its Monument Management Department, on Tuesday, 28th April 2026, carried out an inspection tour of the ongoing reconstruction of the First Post Office in Nigeria, located in Ejinrin, Epe Local Government Area.

The visit was aimed at assessing the progress and quality of ongoing restoration works at the heritage site.

The inspection team was led by the Deputy Director of the Monuments and Management Department, Mrs. Folashade Jide-Oyesola, and included the project contractor, Mrs. Bolajoko Adeyemi; Chief Statistical Officer, Mr. Martins Awobowale; Deputy Director from the Accounts Department, Mrs. Oluwakemisiola Ogundele; as well as Mrs. Mutiat Osho and Mr. Sunday Ajayi.

Also present were officials from the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, who provided oversight and evaluated the project’s alignment with approved standards and regulatory guidelines.

During the tour, the team conducted a thorough review of the work completed so far and engaged in discussions on the subsequent phases of the project.
