Africa: Lagos Tourism Ministry Issues 102 Staff Performance Appraisal Letters to Boost Service Delivery

In a move aimed at strengthening accountability and enhancing productivity within the public service, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has distributed 102 Staff Performance Appraisal and Development (SPADEV) letters to its management team and staff.

The presentation, led by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, underscores the state government’s ongoing commitment to improving efficiency and driving better service outcomes across the ministry.

The presentation, which took place on Wednesday, 1st April 2026, at the Ministry’s Conference Room, underscored the State Government’s drive to institutionalise a performance-based culture within the public service.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila described SPADEV as a comprehensive performance evaluation tool that reflects the duties, responsibilities, and level of commitment demonstrated by staff over the review period of one year. She noted that the initiative reinforces the Ministry’s dedication to promoting excellence, accountability, and professionalism.

The Permanent Secretary commended the staff for their diligence and outstanding performance, stating that their collective efforts have significantly contributed to the successes recorded by the Ministry. She added that the appraisal process aligns with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the present administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, particularly in advancing efficiency and productivity in the public sector.

Encouraging staff to remain committed, Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila urged them to continue discharging their responsibilities with excellence and in alignment with government policies on service delivery. She further charged them to sustain the current momentum and uphold the highest standards in their respective roles.

The Permanent Secretary expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the appraisal exercise. She revealed that no member of staff scored below the mandatory benchmark, describing it as a clear indication of the high level of competence, dedication, and professionalism within the Ministry.

Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to implementing policies and initiatives that motivate staff, enhance productivity, and support the overall vision of the Lagos State Government for sustainable growth and development.
