German carrier, Lufthansa has announced that it is suspending its flight operation out of Nigerian from 23rd March 2020 until April 2020.
The airline in a statement said the last flights from Port Harcourt will operate Friday 20 March 2020 and from Lagos and Abuja on Sunday 22 March 2020, to resume on 20 April 2020.
The airline said: Due to the uncertainty surrounding the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria, our ticketing offices are closed to walk-in customers until further notice, however, we can be reached via contact addresses” it said.
In a related development Southern African carrier, South African Airways has also suspended its flight operation into West Africa.
The carrier which has been surviving on government support said in a statement that it will suspend all regional and international operations until the end of May in response to a government travel ban aimed at stopping the transmission of the Coronavirus COVID-19.
Also, Nigerian carriers, Arik Air and Air Peace have both suspended their flights to West Coast due to the spread of the Coronavirus disease.
