The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced a leadership transition with the appointment of Moses Wekesa as its substantive Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, effective April 17, 2026.
The transition follows the formal handover by Dr. Mohamud Gedi, who had been serving in an acting capacity prior to the new appointment. The ceremony, held on Friday morning, was overseen by the Authority’s Board, marking a smooth transfer of leadership at the aviation agency.

In a statement, the Board, management, and staff of KAA expressed appreciation to Dr. Gedi for his dedication and leadership during his tenure as acting CEO, noting his contributions to the organisation during a critical period.

They also congratulated Wekesa on his appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to steer the Authority forward. As the new CEO, Wekesa is expected to lead efforts to strengthen KAA’s mandate of developing, managing, and operating safe, secure, and efficient airports across Kenya’s aerodrome network.
The leadership change comes at a time when Kenya is intensifying efforts to modernise its aviation infrastructure and enhance operational efficiency across its airports, in line with growing passenger traffic and regional connectivity ambitions.
