Africa: National Commission for Museums and Monuments Recognizes Former Delta State Gov. Uduaghan, Ikomi, Richard Damijo, Ayomike and Ikechi Uko with Heritage Awards

Former Delta State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Pa. Ayomike, Chief Ikomi, renowned actor and former Commissioner Mofe Damijo, and Tourism Expert, Ambassador Ikechi Uko are among the distinguished Nigerians honored with the 2024 National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) Award.

According to reformeronline.com, this recognition coincides with the celebration of this year’s International Day for Monuments and Sites.

In a letter signed by the Curator of the Nanna Living History Museum, Koko, Comrade Ehi Omonkhua, he stated that their nomination is in recognition of their immense contribution towards the Restoration and Listing of the Warri Kingdom Royal Cemetery (WKRC) Ijala as a State and National Heritage Sites in Nigeria.

The Living and Posthumous award ceremony that would hold at the WKRC 1480 A.D. Road, Ijala on Thursday, 18th April, 2024 at 10.am will feature the erection of the new Warri Kingdom Royal Cemetery Signage, Planting of thirty-three prosperity trees and Fruit trees at the Warri Kingdom Royal Orchard.

It’s on records that the WKRC at Ijala, behind the Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company in Warri South LGA of Delta State is among the 108 Listed State and National Heritage Sites across Nigeria.

Among those listed for the Posthumous Award are: Dr. O.J. Eborieme, former D-G, NCMM; Pa.J.O.S. Ayomike, former Chairman of Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILOT); Chiefs Emma Jones, Mac. Erewa Meggison; Pa. Mac. Oma. Eyeyibo; Dr. Mark Erumi and Mr. Julius Otiri respectively.

Those listed for the living Award include His Excellency Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Governor of Delta State; Chief Brown Mene; Chief Eugene Ikomi; Mr. Henry Erikowa; Hon. Mofe Damijo; Mrs. Nkem. P. Ajufo; Mrs. Roseline Ogbolu; Mr. Denis Uwawah; Mallam Yusuf Abdallah Usman; Mr. John Ogundele; Hon. David Tonwe; Surv. N.L. Uwagbokwu and Mr. Charles Enegedi; Ms. Victoria Osuagwu; Counselor, Embassy of the People ‘s Republic of Korea and other prominent personalities in the country.
