In a bid to encourage people to explore the health benefits of daily walking, Nigerian Health organisations, Waka Community Foundation, Q-Life Family Clinic and Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), are set stage a health in the country.
According to a press release by the organisations, the walk marks the dawn of a fresh vista in the annals of health and wellness in Nigeria with the collaboration of the three reputable organizations which are committed to building fitter, leaner, healthier and ultimately happier people through walking and eating right.
“We are gathered here today to formally announce the collaboration of Waka Community Foundation, Q-Life Family Clinic and Health Emergency Initiative for a road walk tagged “Let’s Waka with Q-Life and HEI”
“This collaboration is driven by our conviction that that since a healthy Nigeria is a wealthy Nigeria, it is worthwhile to inform, educate and persuade Nigerians as well as all residents of Nigeria and indeed the world, to take personal responsibility for their wellness by walking and eating right.”
According to Waka Community Foundation the initiators of this collaboration, “our 2200+ members in over 25 countries and in many cities in Nigeria, are encouraged to walk a minimum of thirty minutes daily and to eat healthy in controlled portions.”
“Walking is the oldest and safest form of physical exercise and is non-discriminatory on grounds of age, gender, level of physical fitness or location. Walking also has many benefits such as helping maintain a healthy weight and helping lose unwanted and undesirable fat. Walking helps prevent or manage various conditions including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer and type 2 diabetes.
“Walking also helps improve cardiovascular fitness. Walking contributes to clearing the mind and it boosts our moods. We encourage folks to walk indoors or outdoors depending on choice, safety or convenience. Walking is also inexpensive. One can walk bare feet indoors and on beaches. To walk outdoors require nice fitting and affordable running shoes. So what’s really stopping you from walking?
“We therefore request you to come out on May 7, 2022, and let’s Waka with Q-Life Family Clinic and Health Emergency Initiative. A major point of the event will be a FREE First Responders demonstration of Basic CPR and First Aid by HEI. This will provide CPR and First Aid tips that can be vital during emergencies.
“Q-Life Family Clinic will also be giving a health talk to round up the day’s event. We already have confirmation of participation from many of our respective partners and sponsors.
“In addition to our members, employees of the collaborators, well-wishers and the public who will be participating physically, over 2000+ members of Waka Community International in different parts of the world, will be walking remotely in solidarity from wherever in the world they are and uploading their videos, photos and stats on the online platforms such as Facebook: @ Waka Community International, YouTube: @ Waka Community International, Twitter: @WakaCommunity and by proxy on TikTok ( canig innovative solutions) and Instagram (@mbalorenzo).
“To ensure a hitch-free event, we will have on standby some Agencies including but not limited to FRSC, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, Sheriff Deputies. There will also be representatives from UPS, Medical Social Workers, Woodhall Capital, NYSC, officials of various Lagos State Government Hospitals and more.”
