Africa: Ogun State Government Temporarily Shuts Olumo Rock Tourist Complex to Undergo Facelift and Renovation

The Ogun State Government has announced the temporary closure of the Olumo Rock Tourist Complex in Abeokuta, effective Monday.

Acording to punchng.com, the temporary closure, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, is to give room for the renovation and facelift of the facility.

Fagbayi stated that the development was part of a broader commitment to revamp one of the state’s most iconic tourist destinations, improve visitors’ experience and ensure safety measures during the renovation.

He explained that Olumo Rock received over 70,000 tourists and visitors annually, stating that it needed a befitting outlook.

“The state government apologises to all tourists, visitors and the general public for any inconveniences the development might cause,” he stated.
