Cocoa exporters in Ivory Coast are turning away large volumes of beans arriving at ports due to widespread mold and excessive waste content, raising alarm across global markets that had anticipated a production surplus this season.
According to bloomberg.com, as many as 65% of trucks, each carrying between 30 to 60 tons of beans, are being turned away in the world’s top cocoa producer, according to people familiar with export trends, who asked not to be identified discussing private data.
