The Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan is poised for significant development as the Oyo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, has taken a major step towards transforming the facility into an international airport.

According to FAAN, on August 12, 2024, a delegation from the Oyo State Committee on Airport Expansion, led by Mr. Bimbo Adekambi and former FAAN Managing Director Mr. Kabir Mohammed, met with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, to explore plans for the airport’s expansion and upgrade.
