Governorship aspirant and immediate past president of Transcorp Plc, Mr. Val Ozigbo, has promised to harness the tourism potential of Anambra State, especially the central senatorial zone. Ozigbo likened his manifesto for the coming November 6, 2021 governorship election to a Bible of development.

According to a report on guardian.ng, Ozigbo who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presented his grand vision for the rapid development of Anambra, captured in the ‘Ka Anambra Chawapu’ (For a Brighter Anambra) Manifesto, to party stakeholders from Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, in Awka, the state capital.

Decrying the sorry state of the state capital, Ozigbo promised to reverse the trend by transforming Awka into a befitting metropolis. According to him, his Five-cluster Development Plan, geared towards tapping the tourism potential of Anambra Central, has ‘Visit Anambra’ agenda.

He pointed out that Awka and environs would be developed into a befitting state capital, stressing the need to invest and develop the tourism centres within the state capital and other places around the zone.

“Our ultimate aim is to make the zone a welcoming environment for tourism, travels and tours, as well as a hub for massive educational development and transformation,” he stated.

The governorship hopeful revealed that the Nnewi Cluster, as captured in the development strategy, would be positioned as an industrial hub where government would encourage local manufacturing and export.

He added that he would ensure investment incentives that would position the state to become attractive to investors. Promising to key the state into the global technology drive with a focus on the Old Aguata Zone as a cluster for technology, he assured technology entrepreneurs of adequate seed capital through a state-sponsored start-up investment programme.

The agricultural belt of Omambala and Ogbaru clusters would be turned into agricultural havens, to ramp up production, expand the value chain and create jobs, he hinted.

“The forthcoming election presents a fresh opportunity for us to try something new, something different to obtain a different result. The demands of rebuilding our state will be easier if we all see ourselves as partners in the project,” he said.
