Africa: Seven Wonders of Nigeria inducts new members into Tourism 100 Club

Naija7wonders.com, organisers of Seven Wonders of Nigeria®️ project had an induction ceremony for new members into the Tourism 100 Club: class of 2020.

The event which took place via a Zoom Conference kicked off at 15:00hrs Nigerian time. The Special Guest of Honour was the newly appointed Director General of NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Kangiwa.

From Jordan, the former Secretary-General of the UNWTO, Taleb Rifai joined and gave a short goodwill message.

Also, the Chairman BOT of NATOP, Nkereuwem Onung was online and he had a goodwill message to the new inductees. According to him, with today’s event, the Tourism 100 Club is now 300-member strong army, and nothing can hold it back from promoting domestic tourism.

Meanwhile, the DG of NIHOTOUR in his speech took time to extol the visionary and leadership qualities of Ambassador Ikechi Uko whom he regarded as his brother.

According to him, “Ambassador Ikechi is a natural leader and the most consistent tourism promoter I have ever known.”

Continuing, he said “You know, it takes a lifetime visionary to foresee national challenges, before they occur, and to equally proffer solutions to them beforehand.

For instance, look at his initiative on the 7 Wonders of Nigeria project: that is the calibre of leadership Ambassador Ikechi Uko embodies.”

Furthermore, Alhaji Kangiwa emphasized, “I make bold to state that, in this post COVID-19 world, the Seven Wonders of Nigeria project is, undoubtedly, the springboard to mainstream domestic tourism market in Nigeria.

Therefore, Government and the private sector have to key into it the mission of the project and activate its recommendations.”

Nura Kangiwa continued by congratulating the new inductees on their “induction into this prestigious Tourism 100 Club,” adding that it is “the assemblage of leading lights in Nigeria’s tourism industry.”

He stated that, “If Nigeria’s tourism would ever grow, it would require the professional dedication of every member of Tourism 100 Club.”

While charging all to put their best foot forward towards promoting Nigerian tourism, he assured all of his support as DG of NIHOTOUR.

“Accordingly, I charge you to keep your thinking caps on, so that we can collectively birth a sustainable tourism market and make Nigeria the leading tourist destination in Africa – in the nearest future. To this end, as the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), I assure you that my office is open to members of the Tourism 100 Club in Nigeria.
