Kenya’s aviation and tourism sectors have welcomed the launch of Skyward Express’ inaugural Nairobi–Garissa route, describing the new connection as a significant step towards improving access to Northern Kenya and unlocking opportunities in tourism, business and trade.
The Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) joined Skyward Express to mark the launch, which is expected to make Garissa more accessible to travellers while strengthening air connectivity between the region and Nairobi.
The new route is expected to support the development of Garissa’s tourism potential by providing travellers with improved access to the destination and creating opportunities for increased visitor flows.
Beyond tourism, the new air service is also expected to facilitate business and trade by improving mobility between Northern Kenya and the country’s capital.
KTF said stronger air connectivity would contribute to the development of destinations across Kenya by creating greater opportunities for tourism operators, businesses and local communities.
The federation congratulated Skyward Express on the milestone and expressed its commitment to continued collaboration with the airline and other industry stakeholders to advance Kenya’s aviation, tourism and travel sectors.
The launch reinforces the importance of domestic air connectivity in opening up emerging destinations and promoting a more integrated Kenyan tourism market
