Despite many cases of divorce and marriage breakups, numerous almost too- good-to-be-true romance tales abound in the Nigerian entertainment industry. Ogechi NdubuNma, takes a look at some of the most interesting romantic stories of Nigerian celebs.

Osas and Gbenro Ajibade
They are both Nollywood actors and you won’t be wrong to say they blew many away while acting on popular soap opera, Tinsel. People believe that there must have been something hot going on all the way, both on camera and off as the two are now married with a child. Gbenro was surely one of Nollywood’s most eligible bachelors until the hugely pretty Osas swept him off his feet. Gbenro and Osas, who is also a presenter, got married on June 20, 2015, in New York. Though married, their union remains definitely one of Nollywood’s sweetest romance stories.

2Baba and Annie Idibia
2Baba and his African queen have been in limelight for a long time and are regarded by many as the apt definition of old time love. They started their romance over a decade ago and although a lot of things got in the way, they are now married and have two beautiful girls to call their own. One of the cutest couples in the entertainment industry in Nigeria, both are very active with 2Baba being one of Nigeria’s best in the music arena while Annie is a Nigerian actress who has featured in more than 20 movies.

Ice Prince and Maima
This particular romance has not been without some drama but Ice Prince and his girlfriend, Maima, have stayed together. Maima is a Ghanaian model while Ice Prince is a leading Nigerian rap star. The Chocolate City rapper is a BET award winner and has been involved with at least two other ladies, Yvonne Nelson and Eva Alordiah. He even has a son, Jamal, from yet another relationship while Maima is also rumoured to have cheated on the rapper before. But in spite of all, they remain an item.

Chris Attoh and Damilola Adegbite
Made up of another Tinsel pair, the tales of romance concerning Chris Attoh and Damilola Adegbite have been on for a while. So it was not exactly shocking when they confirmed the many reports that they were in a relationship. The chemistry has always been evident, to the annoyance of many Nigerian and Ghanaian ladies who wish they could be in Damilola’s place. At least that is evident in Michelle Bello-produced movie, Flower Girl, even if they didn’t act alongside each other in Tinsel. As if to rub it on the faces of those wondering if the Ghana-Nigeria union would work, they went on to get married on Valentine’s Day in 2015 and are still going strong.

Lilian Esoro and Ubi Franklin
MMMG boss, Ubi Franklin, got married to the love of his life, Lilian Esoro, on November 1, 2015. Ubi, who has acts like Tekno, Iyanya, Selebobo on his label, and the Clinic Matters actress had been seen together at various events but confirmed nothing until they surprised us all with the announcement of their engagement. Ubi, who claimed to be unaware that Lilian was an actress until a week after their first meeting, welcomed his first child with the beautiful actress July this year.

IK Ogbonna and Sonia Morales
IK Ogbonna is another Nollywood hottie many ladies would like to call their own before he sealed his union with the beautiful Sonia Morales. IK, a Nigerian actor and model, is now married to the Colombian model with a son to show for it. Sonia, an ambassador for London-based fashion line, DFNG and a translator who works with a women and children-focused NGO in third world countries, first became friends with her husband on Instagram. Having been introduced by a mutual friend, they later became love birds before getting married on June 29, 2015.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Cynthia
Ebuka is a lawyer and media personality married to then Cythia Obianodo, an HR manager and fashion enthusiast. First it was a rumour but the Rubbin’ Minds host and his beau soon confirmed it by announcing their engagement on social media and went on to sign the dotted lines on February 6. Sealed with a truly beautiful wedding, their story is one of the sweetest in Nollywood.

Timi Dakolo and Busola
Having been married since 2012, not even crossing the proverbial five-year lane has done anything to dull the strong romance between singer, Timi Dakolo and his wife, Busola. Bayelsa State-born Timi does not miss a chance to show off his beautiful wife and even took it a step further by featuring her in the video of his popular romantic song, “Iyawo Mi.” It is one thing to be gifted with a voice as powerful as Timi’s but many say Busola is a lucky woman to have a man so charming yet so proud to show her off.

Tolu Oniru and Tunde Demuren
How can you put a list like this together without devoting ample space to Tolu Oniru (Toolz) and Tunde Demuren. They are now married like many of the amazing romantic tales we have of celebs, but rumours of their relationship started as far back as 2013. A union between two prominent Nigerian families, the royal Oniru family and that of former FAAN DG, Segun Demuren, their wedding was a most romantic one. With Toolz being a popular OAP with Beat FM and Tunde being co-owner of Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) alongside Banky W, their fans and friends have a wonderful story to tell.

OC Ukeje and Ibukun Togonu
Half of a Yellow Sun actor, OC Ukeje, got married to his damsel, Ibukun Togunu, on November 8, 2015 and although they mostly live apart with Canada-based Ibukun away from Nigeria most of the time, they are still very much in love. They celebrated their one year anniversary recently, and from the look of things, the fire of romance that burns between them is strong despite the distance.

Tonto Dikeh and Olakunle Oladunni Churchill
Usually controversial, Tonto Dikeh, took almost everyone by surprise when she announced her engagement to the man she used to refer to simply as Mr Churchill. Despite her many controversies, the new mother has one of the most amazing relationships in the industry with she and her husband boasting great pictures of their story. They recently welcomed their first child, and Tonto cannot seemingly get enough of her man. Apart from that, they sure look good together and it is just romantic to wish them well.
