Africa: Tourism 100 member, Justina Ovat elected new president of Women in Hospitality Nigeria

The Women in Hospitality Nigeria (WIHN), has announced that Mrs Justina Ovat and Mrs Christine UQuah, who were elected President and Vice President, respectively of the association will take office and begin their tenure with effect from the 26th of June, 2021 after the inaugural ceremony.

Ovat will be taking over the mantle of leadership after the 3-year reign of the association’s current President, Mrs Amaka Amatokwu-Ndekwu, a US based award winning hospitality professional who is also the Founder of the WIHN association and The Pyne Awards.

Mrs Ovat is an award winning Hospitality and Tourism Professional and Social Entrepreneur, and a member of the Tourism 100 Club in Nigeria. Along with her Vice-President-elect, they are currently in the process of selecting members to fill the Executive Council positions, who will support them in steering the wheels of the association for the next 3 years.

Listed among the 50 young persons to watch in Cross River State and also among the young emerging political leaders in Cross River State, Justina Ovat is a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State on Hospitality and also served as General Manager of Tinapa Lakeside Hotel.

Ovat is currently Executive Director and Shareholder of Calabar Hospitality House (CHH) Limited, an indigenous private consultancy firm that delivers high quality training programmes, set-ups, recruitment, secondment, event management and tour packaging services to the tourism & hospitality industry, corporate organizations and individuals.

The President-Elect has contributed immensely to the association from the get go, and she aims to do more towards the continuous growth and development of the organization. Some of her plans for the association during her tenure include: •Professional development for members,
•Increased membership across geopolitical zones and
•Partnership opportunities for members and the association.

Women in Hospitality Nigeria (WIHN) is an association of strong and well-seasoned female professionals engaged in management, operations, service delivery, travel & tourism, food service industry, education, consultancy and development in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry all across Nigeria.

While wishing Mrs Ovat a “Hearty congratulations,” the association is looking forward to the great achievement of her goals for the association.
