Civy Tumusiime of Acacia Safaris has been elected as the new Board Chair of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), the body which brings together registered and professional companies dealing in tour related activities in Uganda.
According to Baluku Geoffrey, reporting for africatembelea.com, Ms. Tumusiime beat Bonifence Byamukama of Kitandara Tours and Eugenie-Windt Nsubuga of Swan Air in a hotly contested race during the association’s AGM polling 162 votes, while Eugenie-Windt Nsubuga and Bonifence Byamukama managed to poll 64 and 14 votes respectively.
The Annual General Meeting was held at Hotel Africana, located in Uganda’s capital Kampala. Meanwhile, the newly elected executive board will serve for the period 2020 – 2022.
Ms. Tumusiime will be deputized by Tony Grace Mulinde of Speke Uganda Holidays.
Other newly appointed members include Robert Mugabe of Africa Adventure Travelers, Marinka Sanc George of Let’s Go Travel and Yvonne Hilgendorf of Manya Africa Tours.
In her speech Ms. Civy Tumusiime among others promised to lobby Government for incentives and negotiate lower interest rates with financial institutions as well as promote unity and synergies from within the membership to foster growth of the member companies.
