Uganda Board Tourism CEO, Lilly Ajarova and famous American movie star Terence Howard have taking walk to savour nature’s beauty at Kibale National Park, which is the home to about 1500 chimpanzees, 120 of which are habituated.
Ajarova said the park has the highest density of chimpanzees globally, and has good routes suitable for travelers in any physical condition, noting it is being ranked to be the best destination for Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda.
“Over the weekend I had the opportunity to do Chimpanzee tracking with American movie star Terence Howard at Kibale National Park, which is the home to about 1500 chimpanzees, 120 of which are habituated.
“Thanks to its highest density of chimpanzees globally, and the good routes suitable for travelers in any physical condition, the park being ranked to be the best destination for Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda.
“Kanyanchu Visitors’ Centre is where the tracking begins – at 8am, 11am and 2pm. Early in the morning, when the chimps are most active, is considered the best time to track. With the tracking taking 2 to 3 hours and utmost 6 hours before spotting the Chimpanzees.
“To go for Chimpanzee tracking you need a tracking permit, which is a legal document that gives you access to the chimps.
June to July and December to February are the best times to visit. The trails are likely to be drier and easier to walk.”
