In a Facebook post on his handle Bayo Adedeji the CEO of Wakanow assured all ticket Holders of DANA who bought through Wakanow of Refunds and transfer to Other Airlines.
He lamented the manner DANA treated the Issues he had Raised with them before the NCAA ban on DANA.
Wakanow, one of the leading travel companies in Nigeria offered to give vouchers to its customers who have unused tickets on Dana Airline affected by the suspension of the airline’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), had suspended the airline’s Air Transport Licence (ATL) and Air Operator Certificate (AOC) due to the airline’s inability to meet its financial obligations and conduct safe flight operations.
Wakanow in a statement posted online said: “While we wait a statement from Dana regarding a contingency plan for affected passengers with unused tickets, we at Wakanow want to proactively provide an immediate alternative to our customers.
All impacted Wakanow customers with unused DANA Airlines tickets for travel from 21st July, 2022 and beyond will be offered a voucher to rebook any local airline of their choice for the value paid for their Dana ticket.
“In urgent cases, send a mail to urgent@wakanow.com and your case will be resolved in a timely manner.
“Please be rest assured that, we at Wakanow will take care of all affected customers.”
“We will pay all customers back immediately because that is the right thing to do irrespective of the cost while we aggressively engage Dana Airline for these funds because they did not provide the service.”
The post by Bayo reads thus:
“I heard rumors of this happening and drove to Dana office on Tuesday. Their responsible manager and marketing manager assured me that they have no issues. They were confident that there was no shut down, the responsible manager told me “I am the liason with NCAA, nothing happens without me knowing and there is a notice period.”
I believed them and left, then I saw the notice of them shutting down hours after. Let me also say that a week before, their management begged Wakanow for a huge deposit of over N100 million saying that will help with continued operations and help drive customer demand. Once I hear customers winning I am all in. Then they lied to my face and became untrusted partners.
Some issues are beyond our control but we don’t need to lie to our partners or customers. We need to be upright and say the truth no matter how difficult it is. Everyone keeps blaming government but business folks do worst things to customers without remorse.
We will pay all customers back immediately because that is the right thing to do irrespective of the cost while we aggressively engage Dana Airline for these funds because they did not provide the service.
It’s a shame honestly that this is how business is done in Nigeria.
