Ghanaian leading carrier, Africa World Airlines (AWA), has evacuated a group of Ghanaians stranded abroad due to the current closure of national borders.
According to a statement by AWA, the flight from Monrovia was chartered by K-Net Limited to repatriate their Ghanaian employees from Liberia.
The airline said it was operated with special permissions from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and other agencies.
“AWA’s professional crew ensured that the highest safety standards were maintained at all times. The passengers transported back to Ghana have all been placed into mandatory quarantine by the health authorities.
“AWA is proud to be a Ghanaian company, offering more flights to, from and within Ghana than any other airline. We urge all Ghanaians to continue to observe the Government recommendations on social distancing, to ensure that we keep our nation great and strong. God bless our homeland Ghana.”
