Ghana’s leading carrier, Africa World Airlines has suspended all its international operations following the instructions issued by the country’s President, Nana Addo that all land borders be closed to human traffic for two weeks commencing March 22, March 2020.
The airline said it is suspending all international flights scheduled to operate from 23MAR20 onward adding that the last flights between Accra and Lagos, Abuja, Freetown and Monrovia are planned to operate on Sunday 22MAR20.
It said all passengers arriving in Ghana on these flights will be subject to mandatory quarantine and testing by port health authorities.
“AWA intends to continue operating domestic flights from Accra to Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and Wa. We recognise that we have a special responsibility to maintain connectivity between the communities we serve. We will endeavour to ensure that an adequate level of service is maintained for those who have essential travel needs in all our markets as long as this remains feasible.”
